Yesterday a friend told me of a TV program about domestic abuse/violence that she thought I might be interested in.
She told me about it because she knows that showing people there is a way to eliminate violence and abuse of any kind from this world is something very close to my heart.
When it came time to switch on I decided not to. In that moment I just felt I didn’t need to sit through a programme highlighting all the terrible things we can inflict on each other and ourselves. So I followed my wisdom and didn’t watch it. I went to bed and had a good nights sleep instead.
This morning I woke up and knew that I wanted to write this post. I know documentaries like the one last night are useful in highlighting the problem of domestic abuse and I’m glad someone is doing that. But that’s not my job. My job is to share all the lovely positive things I now know about life and how it works. My job is to share that by simply understanding something our whole lives can be transformed. This gives me a lot of hope for humanity and the future.
I have this enormous hope because I’ve seen the effect that simply understanding has on peoples lives, the effect it has had on mine and other people close to me. It turns out that it’s a very simple way to address this problem, and it works.
It also turns out that all problems we face in this world today, however large or small, are created via a misunderstanding of the system behind life.
We just need to take the time to understand and share our understanding. That way we can create a better world for everyone, including both the abused and the abuser.
Life only works one way and if we try and make it work another way it’s never going to go well for us. Like any equipment we use to make things easier for us, if we don’t understand how to use it correctly it can frustrate us and make things harder instead of easier. Understanding how things work enables us to use it to our best advantage. The same is true of life, understanding how it works gives us the very best chance of having a happy fulfilling and purposeful one.
Behind life there is intelligence, we are a part of this intelligence and we have access to it through innate wisdom, something every one of us was born with. Life is a contact sport and we are here to live it, bumps, bangs, bruises and all. We are born to experience all of life including both the good and the bad. This innate wisdom is our personal guide through life. Understanding it will give us the smoothest ride possible, but there’s no opting out of the ride, so its only right to expect some ups and downs on the way through. It’s only a problem when we start to try and correct the ups and downs in the wrong place.
Human beings experience life through our thought system; we live in the feeling of our thinking. We feel what we think, nothing else, we aren’t wired to feel anything other than our own thinking.
So that means that we don’t feel other people or our circumstances.
We only ever feel our own thinking, in the moment, about other people and our circumstances.
Have you ever noticed that there are people in your life with whom you just feel annoyed? They don’t have to do very much but you just start to feel annoyed.
Then there are other people and no matter what they do it’s OK with you and you don’t get annoyed with them very often at all?
How is it possible that that’s anything to do with anyone but you?
Believing that that has anything to do with the other person is part of the misunderstanding. It’s when we start to believe that other people are the cause of our annoyance, so to feel better we need them to change, that we get into trouble.
It’s all about bringing our own experience back to us. Then raising our level of understanding. No meddling with or changing the experience is necessary, just a deeper understanding is required. It’s extremely freeing and empowering when we know that we are the only one’s who have the power to decide on our own experience.
